Your Xhosa: Hayi shem torho! – Oh shame man! Listen & learn:

WORD PARTS:

Hayi = often used as in the English ‘oh’ or ‘well’. Otherwise means ‘no’.

shem = slang from English ‘shame’ (expression of sympathy),

torho = from Afrikaans expression of sympathy: tog.

Notice that the ‘rh’ in Xhosa is pronounced like the Afrikaans ‘g’.

Enjoy this wonderfully South African phrase for showing sympathy!
