In 2002 Alex was born and is alive due to the fact that she was not born in a state hospital. Necrotising enterocolitis is the third most common
cause of mortality in premature births and has a 95% relative increase in the likelihood of death. Tygerberg Children’s Hospital, there is officially a 1kg, 28-week gestation cut-off guideline for admission to an NICU for ventilation. Alex was less than 1Kg and was in ICU of a private hospital 5 minutes later. Three months later Alex was discharged. The meaning of Alex is "man's defender, warrior, protector"
