U = you,
kleva = clever (slang!),
wena = you / as for you.
Notes: The letter U meaning YOU never stands alone, however the word WENA meaning YOU or AS FOR YOU can stand alone.

WORD PARTS:
Ma = let,
si = us,
hamb = go
e…the -e ending (instead of the usual a ending of hamba) is because of the Ma- at the front. It is part of a grammar rule that when Ma- begins the phrase it will end with an -e.
Listen and repeat with Zoliswa on the audio file. Enjoy!

WORD PARTS:
Molo = Hello (to 1 person any time of day or night),
mhlobo = friend,
u = you (pronounced “oo”. Can also mean he or she!),
njani? = how?
Listen and repeat with Zoliswa on the audio file.
Note that the HL sound in MHLOBO is made by air passing along the sides of the tongue (not on the palate). It’s like the sound of frying eggs!
Enjoy your Xhosa!

Ndi = I,
ya = (similar to) am,
godola = cold.
Say “Ndiyagodola” when you are feeling cold, but “Kuyabanda” for “it is cold” (ie. the weather or an object).
Listen and repeat after Zoliswa on the audio file.
Enjoy using your Xhosa!
