Good luck with the Q click. It is made by sucking / releasing the tongue from the middle of the palate and hitting it sharply down. It has a popping sound. You could perhaps ask a Xhosa speaker for help with it and / or listen to Zoliswa on the audio file. It’s a great sound to make.

Hi there!

The following 6-week courses are starting this week. Please email molo@new.co.za to book your place.

COURSE 1 ? Essential Social Xhosa. This course is carefully paced so that by week 6 you are able to have a full conversation, from greetings and introductions to small talk and farewells. You attend ONE class per week.

  Tuesday mornings (10 ? 11:30am)
Start date: 15 March / End date: 19 April
Every consecutive Tuesday morning for 6 weeks.

 Tuesday evenings (6 ? 7:30pm)
Start date: 15 March / End date: 19 April
Every consecutive Tuesday evening for 6 weeks.

COURSE 2 ? Essential Practical Xhosa. This course equips you with language for everyday themes and situations including the weather, at the garage and shops, hospitality etc. (If you haven’t completed our Course 1, but feel that you already have the basics, then please email us to complete our Course 1 test before you can enter course 2.)

 Wednesday evenings (6:00? 7:30pm)
Start date: 16 March / End date: 20 April
Every consecutive Wednesday evening for 6 weeks.
