The real measure of your wealth – tinybuddha

“The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money.” -Unknown

Before I started this site, I found myself in a horrible financial situation. I lost two well-paying jobs within the same week, and I quickly realized my unemployment benefits would just barely cover my rent. At 28 years old, I felt like I should have been a lot more established and financially secure.

But something kind of beautiful happened. I began forming close relationships with people who also got laid off due to the economic meltdown. Since we were in the same boat, we had a new sense of camaraderie, and a reason to bond over our shared need for ingenuity.

With fewer distractions and abundant time to fill, we also had a mutual opportunity to discover how we could feel more purposeful and make a difference in other people’s lives. Somehow, without having much money to spend, we became incredibly valuable to each other–and to the world.

In a capitalist society, it’s easy to play the comparison game and assume you’re somehow failing if you’re not amassing wealth.

But when you take an inventory of the people who’ve made a big difference in your life, how frequently do you visualize their net worth alongside their smiling faces? When you look back at your happiest memories, how many of them required massive financial backing?

It would be irresponsible to suggest we don’t need money to live. But if there’s one thing economic times have taught us, it’s that we are far more valuable than the numbers on our checks. And sometimes the greatest joy comes from the simple things that don’t require a dime.

Today if you find yourself fixating on money, ask yourself: What makes me feel rich in my heart, and what can I do with that today?

Fish, Radebe: Football joined us

June 10th, 2011 PhoenixCOZA Posted in My Thoughts No Comments »

Black and white, Lucas Radebe and Mark Fish made up the centre-back pairing in South Africa’s dream team, the increasingly mythical side that won the 1996 CAF Africa Cup of Nations Both went on to play in Europe at the highest level, Radebe captaining Leeds United to the UEFA Champions League semi-final and spending a decade at Elland Road, while Fish played in Serie A with Lazio and at Bolton Wanderers and Charlton Athletic in England’s Premier League.

Together the pair wrote a book, ‘Madiba’s Boys’,

Tools and Utilities for video screen capture

June 6th, 2011 PhoenixCOZA Posted in My Thoughts No Comments »

Found a nice review on utilities for video screen capture for tutorials.

These utilities are normally used for effectively making movies of computer screens. Such utilities are really useful in tech support, product documentation, presentations, or simply showing someone how to do something.

Product suggestions include BB Flashback Express, Wink, and Jing.

Sony Xperia Upgrade l Part 3 l Backup Sony Xperia X10 ROM and Safely test new Roms

April 14th, 2011 PhoenixCOZA Posted in My Thoughts No Comments »

In the previous post we discussed

  1. Overview l Root, ROM and DATA Backup upgrade to Gingerbread
  2. Rooting Sony Xperia X10
  3. Backup Sony Xperia X10 ROM and Safely test new Roms
  4. Backup Sony Xperia X10 apps and user data
  5. Preparing Sony Xperia X10 for Gingerbread upgrade
The apps required for the rest of the tutorial require that your phone be rooted. The rooting process I have chosen might be easier but it will have to be re-installed if you update the Rom ie. Network update. We are just doing the network update, however doing backup of your ROM will allow you to  try new roms or just use the network update with the benefits of rolling back.

Firstly I downloaded the current generic Rom which would mean I would have 2 Roms to fall back on. Sony Ericsson Xperia i10 Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.A.0.504
I will be using xRecovery but if you would like to use Flashtool the giude and software downloads can be found here on XDA
If you don’t want to loose your apps you have to backup them with Titanium or some other backup tool! see the next article for backup of apps.

Requirements:
  1. Phone must be rooted
  2. Install Busybox from the market

Download and Install
xRecovery 0.3-release
How?
Press BACK button 6 times times right after white SE label appears (I did 2 cycles of 3) .

How to Control the app:
Use VOLUME-UP and VOLUME-DOWN to browse, HOME to select, BACK to go back.
Backup the Rom:
Select Backup/Restore to backup your systems. Transfer a copy to your PC and keep it with the Sony Ericsson Xperia i10 Generic version 2.1update1 build 2.0.A.0.504

You now have your current ROM, the Generic and can download some new ROMS. NB Before trying out your new roms see our next part i order to backup your market apps
