Rooting is essentially gives the user admin access to the phone OS. Once you have rooted you mobile phone , you can really do whatever you like. The applications we will be using for the est of the upgrade process will require root access as well.In the previous post we discussed

  3. Backup Sony Xperia X10 ROM and Safely test new Roms
  4. Backup Sony Xperia X10 apps and user data
  5. Preparing Sony Xperia X10 for Gingerbread upgrade

To start we have

You will find many sources for ROMS and Rooting. I am listing them but if you just want the simplest way follow the guide:

For ROMS until this point and getting to Build # 2.0.A.0.504 R2CA016 or use the standard Network update like I did visit

Decrypted branded ROM list (For unroot or rebrand purpose) (flashtools method)

The Guide

Install Phone software
Download the update app from SE site (the one on the phone keeps failing)
The download is 35mb
Once installed restart (do not connect the phone)
Run the update and follow the instructions carefully
*It will ask you to unplug the phone and remove the battery ….

Sony Xperia Upgrade l Part 1 l Root, ROM and DATA Backup upgrade to Gingerbread

April 11th, 2011 PhoenixCOZA Posted in My Thoughts No Comments »

Sony Ericsson has announced Xperia X10 will get the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update! Yes, the Xperia X10 will get a direct update to Android 2.3 Gingerbread from Android 2.1 Éclair. Rikard Skogberg announced via the Sony Ericsson blog,  While I have welcome the upgrade , it poses a few obstacles which might be a good thing.

The Gingerbread update will be released via SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service and not via OTA. The company will release the Android Gingerbread update for the Xperia X10 by the end of Q2 or early Q3 of this year. The update is only for unlocked and un-branded X10 handsets. Network locked X10 owners, will have to rely on their network provider whether they will release the update or not.

The Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client is not supported in the Gingerbread version and will therefore be lost. This means that I have finally had to consider

    1. Overview l Root, ROM and DATA Backup upgrade to Gingerbread
    2. Rooting Sony Xperia X10
    3. Backup Sony Xperia X10 ROM and Safely test new Roms
    4. Backup Sony Xperia X10 apps and user data
    5. Preparing Sony Xperia X10 for Gingerbread upgrade

    Quote :
Will I lose any content or settings by doing the upgrade? Yes – All your personal content and settings stored in the phone will be lost in the process. You will have to make sure that you have stored your information somewhere else. Note that the Sony Ericsson Backup and Restore client will not be included in the Gingerbread version, therefore we recommend using a 3rd party backup application if you don’t have your data stored in other places than your phone. Content stored on your memory card is not affected by the upgrade, except DRM protected content since keys will be lost.
The current plan is that the XperiaTM X10 will get the Android standard Camera user interface and therefore features like e.g. face recognition, smile shutter etc will be lost.

How to Transfer or Migrate Blackberry mobile Contacts to new phone or to sim

April 8th, 2011 PhoenixCOZA Posted in My Thoughts No Comments »

If your transferring or migrating your mobile contacts to your new phone the process just requires a sync if your Domain is Google Apps enabled.

If your transferring Blackberry contacts Unfortunately you can only copy numbers one by one to the SIM and this will only transfer the contact number. You will lose email, physical address and other details you might have added to the contact.
If you wish to import from the SIM to your device you have the option of "Copy All To SIM".

The easiest way for you to migrate your device contacts and other data to a new Blackberry is to use the "Switch Device Wizard" in Desktop manager. The Desktop software can be found on the CD that came with your device. If your software does not load or the software and the unit has corrupt software search for an earlier post here as you have not backed up the unit before.

You will see tips for Andriod and many suggestions for apps to load. You will only see solutions to Blackberry problems as that's how far my BB dealings go.
