Asian champions Japan may not have it all their own way on the road to Brazil after they were pitted against fellow South African 2010 qualifiers Korea DPR, Uzbekistan and Syria in Group C. Elsewhere Australia will take on Saudi Arabia.

The Oceania qualifying draw for Brazil 2014 provided New Zealand with an intriguing challenge against Fiji, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, while Group A features Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Tahiti and the Round One winner.

With just nine teams in the running for four direct berths for Brazil 2014 and one intercontinental play-off spot, there is all to play for in the South American Zone. 

The road to the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals was laid out for 166 hopefuls at Saturday’s Preliminary Draw in Rio de Janeiro and holders Spain face a sizeable obstacle in the shape of former winners France.
